We ve mentioned that you should be able to browse your project from your working directory. Just browsing the file that you currently have checked out, however, is usually not very useful. Getting a file or project means that you take a copy of whatever s currently in the repository, leaving the read-only flag set. You want to get the entire project before every development session so that you are sure that you have the most recent code for the entire project in your working directory. To do this, right-click the name of the project or file that you want to get in the main SourceSafe window and choose Get Latest Version from the pop-up menu. A time may come when you check something out, start modifying it, and then realize that it was correct the way that it was before. To revert to the way that the file was before you checked it out, right-click the file that you re working with in the main SourceSafe window and choose Undo Check Out from the pop-up menu. This action reverts the file back to the way that it was before you checked it out and checks the file back in. Be careful in using this feature, however, because none of the modifications that you made after checking the file out takes effect if you undo the checkout. As you get deeper into your projects and source-control usage, you may come across the terms branching, pinning, and merging. These topics are beyond the scope of this chapter and involve running multiple versions of your site at the same time.
