Building Data Access Pages If the properties seem completely unlike the properties for a form or report, remember that you re now in a design environment for Web pages. One of the major differences is that most positioning is expressed in pixels or a relative percentage from the left or top of the design area. The reason for this is that you have no control over the size of the Web visitor s browser window. The user s browser will make automatic adjustments based on the size of the user s window. You can, for example, design a data access page to look best in a browser window that s 800 by 600 pixels, but you can t control the window size absolutely like you can in an Access form. Tip Until you ve gained experience designing for a Web environment, I recommend you adjust all design elements by moving and sizing them in the design area. Also use the Align and Size commands on the Format menu (see the discussion later in this section) to make adjustments rather than trying to wrestle with the property sheet. The design engine will make appropriate adjustments to the properties for you.

To place elements on a data access page, you can use the toolbox, which is shown near the left edge of Figure 27-16. All the controls you can use as design elements in a data access page are implemented as ActiveX objects. Many of these objects are very similar to the controls you use to design forms and reports. Table 27-1 lists the built-in objects, their Access form and report equivalents, and their specific uses.

The XDeclaration class can be constructed using an existing XDeclaration or XmlReader. When an existing XmlReader is passed into the constructor, the XML declaration from the XmlReader is read into the XDeclaration. In order for the XML declaration to be read from the XmlReader, it must be positioned on the XML declaration. If the XmlReader is not positioned on an XML declaration, an InvalidOperationException will be thrown. XProcessingInstruction The second class that becomes relevant when we start working with XML documents is XProcessingInstruction. The XProcessingInstruction class represents an XML processing instruction. Processing instructions convey information to an application that processes the XML. Like the XDeclaration class, the XProcessingInstruction class can be constructed with an existing XmlReader instance. Another way an XProcessingInstruction can be constructed is via the following constructor:
