The vast majority of the details involved in presenting you the TV viewer with the images and sounds on your set are hidden from you. Think of TV as a service. You use a remote control to send commands to your TV. You can perform three basic functions with your TV: change the channel, adjust the volume, and turn it on and off. If you examine all those buttons on your remote control, you ll see that these are the operations that your remote control provides. Everything else on the remote control simply allows you to specify the parameters of those operations. Those operations, in turn, are handled through a motherboard on your TV set. The motherboard aggregates circuit boards (many of them integrated so they physically appear as part of the motherboard) that perform finer-grained functions. Those circuit boards are composed of hundreds of integrated circuits, each of which is composed of millions of individual transistors. This is abstraction at its best.
