1. To enable treeless login, select Enable LDAP Treeless Login. This automatically selects LDAP Contextless login as well. 2. If you re using LDAP Treeless Login, enter the names of the trees where you want to search for the user object. If you re only using LDAP Contextless login, enter the name or address of the servers where the LDAP service is set up, and click Add to add these servers to the list. 3. When adding an LDAP server to the list, a window appears in which you must set up the communication parameters for the LDAP server. The easiest way to connect to the LDAP server is over the unsecured LDAP port 389. If, however, you want to make an encrypted connection to the LDAP server, select Encrypted Data (SSL) and specify the location on your workstation where the SSL certificate used by the LDAP server is exported to. You can read more about exporting SSL certificates in 12. 4. If you want to specify a list of contexts to search, select the Enable LDAP Context Search Scope option. Next, choose the tree designated to be searched and click Properties. In the window that appears (see Figure 6-14), you can choose between the following two options: Search Context and Subtree Search Context Only 5. To minimize searches in your tree, select Search Context Only and enter a list of contexts that should be searched for user information. For maximum flexibility, select the Search Context And Subtree option and enter a reference to the top-level container in your tree. All users in all containers under that context are automatically found. When entering a context, use its LDAP name for the context, such as ou=sfo,o=oes, instead of sfo.oes.

Note In previous versions of APEX, the Page Zero option wasn t available in the wizard. You had to create a blank page and manually give it a page number of zero, which confused a lot of people, since it wasn t immediately obvious that you could do that. Having the new option available in the page creation wizard is a much more logical way of creating page zero.

Once the wizard has completed, you should see your new page zero, as shown in Figure 6-63. As you can see, in the Application Builder, page zero looks quite different from other pages. Also notice that it is not possible to run page zero directly.

6. Click OK to close the Context Search Scope window and then click OK to close the LDAP Contextless Login window. The settings are now applied. The next time the user logs in, he only has to enter his username. The LDAP Contextless Login feature does the rest.

If a DHCP server is configured to deliver OES-related items to workstations where Novell Client is installed, you can overwrite settings distributed by this DHCP server on the DHCP Settings tab.
